the cost of life with Christ

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2

living in a world that is constantly changing; society is becoming more demanding and people are seeking fame, friends and money above all else.

let me ask you this, what do you spend your money on?

What you spend your money on is what you care most about. Many people these days have lost sight of the important things, although yes we all do die at one point, and we should be living our lives to the fullest but when did that mean neglecting others, especially those in need. And when did that start meaning to buy material things instead of living the fulness of life Christ has to offer us? That is one of God’s greatest commands “to love our neighbours as ourself” Matthew 22:36-40 and throughout the Bible, it is so clearly written to help others and the poor, the widows, children. Yet when donating to charities or people in need, we spend more money on a pair of shoes then we do on someones life. Where has the urgency gone to help those who are dying?

Life here on earth is so short, and nothing that we have here will last. One day it could all be floating away, then what? what will you have to stand on?

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal,But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21

Even if you’re not a follow of Christ, what do you have when you lose all your possesions?

You should read Matthew 19:16-30 “Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

We have to be reminded that we’re just passing through life here on earth, this isn’t our home, we have a greater, unimaginable home waiting for us. Why are we getting so comfortable here on earth?

“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15

May today you be reminded that there is more to life then the newest car, the best phone, nicest clothes. Those things are nice but they will not bring true happiness, they’re pulling you further away from being willing to serve God no matter what we have to lose in order to do so. If He asked you to move to Africa, to live as they lived, to save their souls, would you go? or would you have to much baggage to leave behind?

The cost of following Christ isn’t a lot, it’s everything. But the rewards are more then we could ever dream of. We will recieve eternal life, something that will never perish. how beautiful is that?

“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” Colossians 3:2
