for when we speak

We have been given a beautiful gift-the ability to speak. We have been given words and a language. We are able to communicate and speak love and truth into tose lives around us. We hold to power to bring heaven or hell through our words. God has given us the ability to speak and desires us to proclaim His truth and life. I rememberso clearly one day when the Lord spoke to me “you have become silenced but I have not silenced you”. Now I can look back and be reminded that I have been given a voice, given authority when speaking His truth. That I am made to proclaim  His Kingdom, further it by speaking it’s truth, breathing it’s principals. We are servants of a Lord who is the Word Himself. John claims in his Gospel of the “true light that gives light to all..” (1:9).

“Logos” translated from the greek inperprets : the principle that gave the universe order, meaning, structure, harmony, speech, reason, principle, language, logic, story and the word.

God spoke the world into existance (Genesis 1) He spoke all things to come and that have passed. The Word has power, the Word is living because Christ himself is alive.

All this to say-words change and transform situations, people and actions. The power we hold behind words change the way others interpret our words. God is love (1 John 4:8) therefore when He speaks, He proclaims through love, through His truth and holds a power that is everlasting as He is out of time and in all things.

The Lord revealed himself to those in the Old Testament through speaking-He used His words to proclaim His power. The Lord spoke and the earth shook, the Lord’s word is everlasting as He himself is ” I AM” When Jesus came, He was the word. He was what God all along was proclaiming and creating a way for. The father revealed Himself through His Word (Jesus Christ, His Son).

Jesus came and proclaimed His Fathers truth, His truth. He spoke to His disciples, they listened and followed. “For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it.” John 12:49  He spoke to us “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” Mark 16:15

“What you say can preserve life or destroy it; so you must accept the consequences of your words.” Provers 18:21

We are held accountable for the words we speak “I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak” Matthew 12:36. And yet we are so careless with the power we hold. Jesus exemplified self control to the highest when even being confronted He would hold his words and wait for the Holy Spirit to speak through Him. He understood the power behind His words and spoke only the truth the Father placed within Him.

If we too hold His Spirit, shouldn’t we too be patient with the words we speak, have self-control before proclaiming words-not speaking from emotion or reaction but weighing our words and speaking out of love, truth and faith.

“Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.” Colossians 4:6

We use our words to pray, we use our words to speak to the Lord.  For “”Her mouth speaks from that which fills her heart” Luke 6:45. May we be slow to speak, being filled by the spirit and allowing His truth to flow out of us. For our words can build or tear down, when we speak into other’s lives we must truly seek the Lords guidance.

How can others know God if they do not hear of him?

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” Romans 10:14

The Bible is full of truth of the power behind words, the voices we have been given, the authority Christ has given those who proclaim His Truth; power to raise others from the dead, heal the sick, proclaim prophecy, speak oh His love and encourage others. Our words hold a power from where our motives derive from. May we seek a pure heart, pure thoughts and words full of only His truth and love. May we watch our words, hold our tounges and speak only what we know will stand before the Kingdom of God.66076319502826539_uvB60L8y_c

As Kingdom Bringers we should be bringing the kingdom down through all we say, do and think. Oh Lord may our minds and souls be cleansed, refined and purified by your word, truth and light.

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. Romans 10:17

“But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” Romans 10:8-10
