Always Better Together

One of my favourite books is Acts. Why? For many reasons, such as the amazing stories of Gods love and power, the boldness of faith the men and woman lived in but also the amazing unity the church lived in.

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wondedrs and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and have everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Everyday they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved”            Acts 2:42-47africachildren

I love the idea of such a family of believers coming together. Whom they realize the importance in creating a life of fellowship, not only with themselves and the Holy Spirit but others. For God created us in fellowship, He created us originally to, “Be fruitful and increase in number, fill the earth and subdue it..” Genesis 1:28 And in doing so we would be of one mind, one heart, walking in One Spirit to serve One Lord and One Father God.

For when we alone seek God, we grasp only a glimpse of who He is, but when we seek Him corporately, we see a fuller picture of who He is. For if we are all created in His image, when we come together as one to seek His face, we will all be transformed into His likeness. For when we are all together we will be able to see how the Body was created to function and look like. For the body of Christ, although many parts (1 Corinthians 12:12) represents the diversity, yet unity of who God is. For each person has something beautiful to offer, each person exactly how they are, was created in the image of God Himself to bring forth an aspect of who He is for the world to see. When we live in unity together, each body part finds it’s place.

Unity is so vital. For when we live, move and serve in unity, we are coming back into Oneness with Father God. We then are working towards one common goal-to bring everyone back into unity with the Father…And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved Acts 2:47.

For the world is desperate to find where they belong. Everyone is seeking a place where the fit in. Where they are loved. Where they feel accepted, valued and cared for. When we begin to create a church that lives, breathes and moves in unity-when others come in, they will get a glimpse of who Jesus is and how glorious heaven truly is. For heaven is fellowship, heaven is unity with all and living, moving and serving in One Spirit, One Father and One Son.

How can we begin to create unity? By beginning to step away from our desire to futher ourselves and towards walking in the Spirit to further Christ’s work, His body. To bring others together in love, in support, in prayer, in worship and a lifestyle of sharing Christ with not only eachother but the world.

For Ephesians 4:2-6 says, “with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to perserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.”

For Christ is returning for A Bride-to prepare ourselves as One for the Lord, shouldn’t we be creating unity amongst all believers? It is humbling ourselves to see that we don’t have it all figured out, but believing that when we come together and start walking, living, teaching and sharing in unity-as one mind (the mind of Christ), one heart and one Bride; operating in one Spirit, for one purpose, towards one Kingdom, for one Son and one Father-we will begin to walk as the body was intended to do so. Such as how they did in Acts.

For alone we are lost, trying to follow individual leaders rather than all rising up to the giftings we were created in, as one Bride, following Jesus. By doing so we would be listening and abiding in Jesus, being moved and led by The Spirit rather than ourselves or the world.

For as sheep move together, being herded and guided by one sheperd as one flock. We too need to start moving together. For when we are alone, we easily led astray and are open to being attacked by wolves. For when we care for one another, we put those around us above ourselves. We begin to notice the need of others and do what we can for those we love, but whom Christ also died for.

For when there is unity, there is peace. When there is family, there is fellowship. Where there is love, there is God.

Begin to create unity around you, allowing others to feel accepted, welcomed and loved. Going to church to support one another in prayer, love, communion and encouragment-not just going for ourselves but for the sake of the body. For just as in Acts-people were added daily to the church, for I believe they were able to see the beauty of what Christ died for-restoration of relationship with the Father, eachother and themselves. We were never meant to do it alone, so may we start to do it together by the power of the Holy Spirit.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14
