In a world where everything is fast pace. Fast food, atm services, drive thru’s, dead lines and text messages rather than seeing someone; we are constantly striving to take on more than we should. We take on more work, more friends, more assignments and filling up our scheduels instead of taking time to enjoy the beauty of our lives.
It’s as if we are trying to rush past our life, hoping that, ‘well maybe someday I’ll have time for that’ or ‘if I wasn’t so busy, I could do that’. The great thing, is now you have that time, now you are able to do what you desire to do. For your days aren’t getting less busy but filled -for that is the cycle we are caught in. Instead of taking time with those we love, doing that which we enjoy, and resting-we are neglecting our relationships, focusing on money and success rather than enjoying what we have and taking time for ourselves.
For when we neglect ourselves and those we love, we run ourselves down. We begin to burn out, we lose our passion and our joy in life. We see ourselves as stuck rather then free. We see ourselves as busy rather than able to spend time with those who deserve it. We lose our joy and thrill for life because we are so focused on what’s next, what we’re missing. Thinking ‘well only if I had that I would be happy…if I was that person I would be able to do that…if I didn’t have this then I could be doing that’. When we begin to compare and label ourselves, we are no longer living in freedom to do those things, but held down by the chains we wrapped ourselves in.
Today, I hope I can speak life and shine a light into your life. Life is not meant to be filled, planned and busy-it is meant to be enjoyed. It is meant to live in peace and harmony with one another, loving all and accepting others. For the more we focus on ourselves, where we need to go, rushing to get things done-we miss people daily that need love, that would benefit grately if we stopped to say Hi, to give a kind smile and to buy lunch.
The more we are consumed by the ways of the world-we are filled with worry, anxiety, depression and a lack of love because we are seeking to find our self worth in what we do, in how others see us, rather than enjoying ourselves in the midst of all things and finding our worth and value in God.
When we begin to seek to find ourselves within the world-we are stepping further away from who God created us to be. For we are not meant to be like any other-we are made unique, we are made as individuals to shine forth something new into this world. The more we try to fit in a label or the ‘ideal’ life or person, we miss the life God has planned for us. Instead of using “but if only” or “maybe some day”, start with doing it now. Making time and setting aside that which isn’t important for that which is.
If you were to sit and do nothing for an entire day, how would you feel about yourself? Would you feel as though you were lazy? That you should have been doing something rather than enjoying just resting?
The beautiful thing about the Kingdom of God is that it is opposite of the world. That when we are consumed with what needs to be done, we miss what the Lord had planned for our day. We become worried and busy as Martha was, rather then obedient and attentive as Mary was.
When we are constantly planning, we are shutting doors for Him to work through us. For we drown out His voice with our own-our own needs, desires, wants, and buts.
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the ait, they do not sow or reap or store away in barns and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?….But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of it’s own.” Matthew 6:25-27…33-32
It always blows my mind to think that God Almighty wants a relationship with me! Me..someone like me! I am incredibly blessed that Father God loves me…and He wants to live close with me. That Jesus did not only sacrifice His life so that I could be forgiven for my sins and a place in eternity with Him-but for my relationship with Father God to be restored. I am now able to have the relationship adam once had in the garden with God, an everyday walk with my Creator. I am no longer seperated from that who loves me and made me, but am able to commune with Him each and every day. My life is no longer caught up in the busyness of the world, but fixed on trusting and looking to Jesus to show me the way through each day. Although it isn’t always easy to be patient and wait on the Lord, He is faithful and His ways are always greater than mine could ever be. Although I would move a lot faster, His timing is perfect and always right. For when we begin to submit ourselves to Him and His ways, turning our ‘but’s’ and ‘no’s’ into ‘yes” , our lives will slowly become yeilded onto Holy Spirit rather than our fleshly desires and we will be living-seeking His Kingdom and righteousness..living a life worthy of the Lord.
Always be reminded, we are not seeking to please man but God. May we take our eyes off the world, seeking to find worth in what we do, in the success we earn and rather enjoy the time we have, and learn to walk daily in the presence of the Lord-for there is where we find the fullness of life and joy. All else in this world is apart from God, but when we are resting in Him-everything in this world is ours. With God we are storing an eternal treasure, without Him we are striving for ourselves a treasure that will one day perish.
Today is your day to change your world, what will you do? Who will you choose to live for?
“Abba, I thank you for your abounding grace. That you are so faithful and continually showing us your ways when we are trying to do our own. May you empower us today through your Holy Spirit to live in step with You. To no longer seek the things of the world but to rest in you. Help me fix my eyes on you and your Kingdom rather than the world. I earnestly seek you God!! Lead me in your timing and ways for I trust in you! In the name of Jesus, amen!”
