O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
beholding your power and glory.
Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
So I will bless you as long as I live;
in your name I will lift up my hands.
I am continually awed when I read through the Bible and see that Our God longs for a relationship with Him. That He does not merely want us to seek Him for the things which He has to offer but to seek Him to know Him. Just like the Israelites and Moses leaving Egypt for the Promise Land. The Israelites missed the point of building a relationship with God but rather were seeking that which He promised them, with or without Him there. Moses on the other hand, valued the Presence of God and longed to know Him, to see His face and to walk with Him. Because as Solomon writes in Ecclesiastes, all is meaningless here on earth without God. For earth will pass away, but us who place our trust and life in God, will live forever.
Ask yourself, how do you see God the Father? How do you view your relationship with Him? Do you have one? If you question whether you do or not, perfect! Because right now is the perfect time to step into one.
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you..”James 4:8a
We have to take the first step towards Him. He is a patient God who waits for us to initate a relationship, for He has already shown through His Son that He longs for us to be reconciled back into oneness with Him. For through the death of Jesus Christ, when we accept Him as Lord, we are no longer seperated from God through our sins, for Jesus bore them on the cross, dying the death we should have died, bearing the sins we have and will commit. And in doing so, allowed us to be restored back into a right standing relationship with God the Father through His blood. God loves you. You is asking you to come to know Him for who He truly is, to come to know Him so that you can find out who you are.
There is no need to live this life seeking for fulfillment, for nothing in this world will satisfy that void in your heart. Only that whom that void is missing can fill it- Jesus Christ. Which through Him, you will find the fullness of life, the joy which you long for and the love which you are so desperatley seeking.
Will you draw near to God? Taking the first step to cleanse yourself of what may be keeping you from Him and allow Him to purify your hearts (James 4:8b) so that you can come into a relationship with Father God. For when we seek to know Him, we will find all that we’ve been longing for. We all have a longing, a desire for something more in our lives. May you step towards that whom created you to fulfill that longing with Himself. As Adam walked in the garden with God, as Enoch, Noah and Abraham walked with God-so can we.
“Father God, thank you for sending your Son so that we could live. Thank you for your love. Forgive me for not living for you, or seeking to know you. Today I take a step towards you, for I want to know you and be known by you. May you cleanse me and purify me by the blood of your Son, Jesus Christ, so I can stand right before you. I seek you, not that which you offer but who you are. I want to know you personally, as I draw near to you, draw near to me oh Mighty God. In the name of Jesus. Amen!”
